DreamHost
DreamHost is a Los Angeles based web site host provider and domain name registrar. It is the web hosting branch of New Dream Network, LLC, founded in 1996 by Dallas Bethune, Josh Jones, Michael Rodriguez and Sage Weil, undergraduate students at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California, and registered in 1999 by Michael Rodriguez. Dream Host first starting hosting customers' sites in 1997.
DreamHost's shared and dedicated hosting network consists of Apache and lighttpd web servers running on the Debian GNU/Linux operating system. The control panel is a custom application designed in-house, includes integrated billing and a support ticket system, and has received rave reviews from some customers. DreamHost's staff contribute to an official blog and a customer support wiki. DreamHost does not offer call-in phone support, but customers can pay extra to request "callbacks" from support staff. The company hosts in excess of one million domains.

Dream Host only offer one hosting plan, however the plan is anything but simple. The features included in the plan are about as inclusive as you can get. The above plan comes with a 97 day money back guarantee which should be enough for even the pickiest of individuals. Along with this Dream Host gives it customers with a 100% uptime guarantee. For any hour that your website is unavailable due to a problem on Dream Host's end they will give you 1 free day of hosting in the next month, the maximum is 10% of next month's fee.
For those customers that require more than shared hosting, Dream Host is able to provide a number of solutions.
A Virtual Private server can be arranged, the prices start at $15 per month for 300MB of RAM and go up to $200 per month for 4GB of RAM. A dedicated server can also be purchased and prices start at $69 per month for the following features:

If you already have a server running and would like to setup a disaster recovery site or high availability you can opt for the server collocation services provided by Dream Host. The servers are housed in the company's LA data center.
To manage their online accounts Dream Host has developed their own control panel software through which all account maintenance activities can be performed. The company also has special offering for nonprofit companies to help them reduce their costs.
Customer Service and Reviews
In case of any problems with their hosting plans all customers are provided with 24/7 email based support. A support ticket can be opened by logging on the web panel provided by the company.
One thing lacking form the company's website are customer reviews. However there are reviews to be found on the net by searching throuogh google.
Company Information
One differentiating factor about Dream Host is that they are owned by the employees and they claim to be a close knit group of people. This would be encouraging to potential customers as it makes the company seem more like a family. Dream Host has been around since 1997 however the company does not have any awards or accolades which questions again the quality and consistency of their services. In addition a recent survey of reviewers of Dream Host put out of 5, reliability as 3.3, support 3.7, pricing as 4.4 and overall as 3.6.
Before signing up with any hosting company please make sure that you personally evaluate their plans and services. Reviews such as this should not be the sole factor on which a decision is made.
While they have a range of services and impressive packages, the fact that the company has not won any awards and does not feature any testimonials might make some people worry. However the features and prices of the plan do warrant further investigation.
